Q: ARE SOUL PARTNERS INHERENTLY ROMANTIC?
A: Not at all! While soul partners may fall in love, it is not necessary or implied. Soul partners are, for the most part, platonic. Some may hate each other. Some may be siblings/family. There is no hard and fast rule for what kind of a relationship a soul pair should have.
Q: IF MY SOUL PARTNER DROPS OUT OF THE GAME, IS MY CHARACTER DOOMED TO FAIL?
A: Nope! We always have a contingency plan in terms of making sure every active member of the group gets a satisfying ending. So don't worry about that--we won't punish you for their absence!
Q: HOW MANY MEMBERS WILL BE ALLOWED INTO THE GROUP?
A: That is not information that we are disclosing at the moment. While the admins have an idea of the member count, we won't be announcing that number until all members have been chosen. We are hoping this will cut down stress for potential members undergoing the application process!
Q: HOW MANY CHARACTERS AM I ALLOWED TO HAVE?
A: Only one! Not only does this raise the stakes of the game, but we believe it helps players connect better with their characters if they only have one to dedicate their efforts to.
Q: CAN I CHOOSE MY CHARACTER'S SOUL CLASS/SHADE/PARTNER?
A: Nope! What kind of fun would that be?
Q: I'M NOT MUCH OF AN ARTIST. CAN I STILL APPLY?
A: Absolutely! In terms of our members, your level of literacy and activity is far more important to us than your ability to produce art. First and foremost, we are here writing a story. While many of our members are artists, it is not a requirement to join!
Q: HOW DOES THE GROUP WORK/WHERE DOES ROLEPLAY TAKE PLACE?
A: We're glad you asked! Paradise Rising is a roleplay-focused group--that meaning all of the plot progression and storyline will be revealed through roleplay. The majority of Paradise Rising's activity is going to be focused on 3 places: DeviantART, Google Docs, and Discord. DeviantART is where all the big announcements and plot journals will be posted, and occasionally we will ask you to post roleplay in the form of comments on certain journals. However, 90% of the roleplay is going to be based in Google Docs. The PR Discord Server will be where most of the casual communication takes places, as well as conversation among teammates/partners/etc. Make sure you can access or join all 3 before you apply with us!
Q: HOW DIFFERENT WILL PARADISE RISING BE FROM THE PARADISE TRIALS, AND WHAT NEW MECHANICS SHOULD WE BE FAMILIAR WITH, IF ANY?
A: Well, we'd prefer not to give too much away in terms of the new season's plot... so while there will definitely be similarities to the original Paradise Trials, there will also be many new elements too. Don't worry about needing to know mechanics from the past season! The new season is designed so that anyone will be able to play and understand it, regardless of if they have an expansive knowledge of the first season or not.
Q: WILL THERE BE MORE THAN ONE OPENING?
A: That will entirely depend on the sustained activity levels of the members accepted at the beginning of the story. While we are not specifically planning a second (or third) opening, we may decide to open the group again if a bunch of players drop out. Who knows, anything could happen!
