Gameplay

Paradise Rising, much like The Paradise Trials, will not be run or played like a typical roleplay group would be. We will be experimenting with stats, dice rolls, probability, puzzles and riddles, and more. The choices your characters make in-game will affect the plot. The plot itself has a start and end, with events and tasks for you and your character to complete in between. These events will be known as Trials, much like in The Paradise Trials. This is the second season in The Paradise Trials storyline. There is a possibility for a third season, but that will be based on interest to continue as well as admin availability, and there is no guarantee that it will happen.

trials

Participation in the Trials will be the only required activity in Paradise Rising. Activity requirements may vary from Trial to Trial, depending on mechanics, but examples of activity requirements in The Paradise Trials varied from at least 5 roleplay posts in Google Docs, or a certain amount of art completed within a set timeline. Activity requirements for each Trial will be announced at their starting dates. There will be five Trials in total.

Your character will leave each Trial having gained something, whether it be new information, items, abilities, etc. Everything you gain in-game will help you out either in-character or out-of-character to solve a problem, piece together your soul partner, or uncover a new piece of the plot. It helps to stay as organized as you can with this group, and try to remember all information you are given, as it will likely help you later!

All private pieces of information we give you through notes or other methods MUST be kept to yourself unless stated otherwise! Sharing private information with other players may increase your risk of being removed from the group.

interims

After each Trial, the group will be in interim periods. The interim periods may vary in length, depending on how much work the mods have to complete before beginning the next Trial. There will be events and roleplays during the interims, but participation is not required, and you may use this time to relax from Paradise Rising if you wish.

character death

Character death in Paradise Rising is very real, and you will not have an opportunity to resurrect your character. We will always let you know if your character choices are leading towards a potentially fatal ending. Characters may also die from lack of activity. If you miss the required activity check for a Trial without warning, or cause OOC problems and are unwilling to cooperate, you will be removed and your character will be killed. The mods have the right to remove and kill any player at any time for any reason (though we are very forgiving and fair, so this will not happen unless we are given very good reason).

soulrooting

Soulrooting is the process of two (or more) half-souls finding their other half. One of the main points of the story and the game is to win by finding your soul partner; the other half of your soul. Like a game of Clue, you will not know who the person is that you are looking for- only the mods will know, and the information is extremely secret.

Throughout the game, you will be getting more and more hints as to who your soul partner may be. Some of this information MUST be kept to yourself! This includes:

  • Your soul shade

  • Your soul alignments (unless told otherwise)

  • Any private clues we may give you

You may not, under any circumstances, share your soul shade with anyone else in the group! It is a key part of the gameplay that you use other methods to find your soul partner. You will only be allowed to guess your soul partner when we ask for your guess in-game. More information about soulrooting will be revealed at the time of the final guess.
