TERMINOLOGY

There are certain terms and phrases used throughout Paradise Rising that pertain to specific elements of the game. If we use a term you are not familiar with that isn't on this list, please let us know!

the cleanse

The process of healing the wastelands that has been underway since the previous Trials ended.

half soul

All submitted characters will be half-souls. This means that their soul was split into two at birth and the other half resides somewhere within another cat.

highpeak

The mountain above Paradise Valley where the original Gate is located. Seen as a sacred place by some; remnants of the old gate still lie here.

legendaries

The cats who completed Oordeel's trials and returned to establish Paradise (aka, all the Season One characters).

paradise valley

The valley below the Highpeak where the first Gate was originally opened, and where the Legendaries returned.

the reckoning

The day the world was supposed to end, before the Legendaries stopped it.

The wastelands

The world before the Reckoning; the wastelands was a dead world full of harsh weather, tar pits, and lifeless swaths of land. An oft-impossible world to live in.

soul class

The general color of a cat's soul. There are only 5 categories: Blue, Red, Green, Purple and Black.

soul partners

Cats who share the same soul shade.

soulrooting

When one half soul finds its other half, they soulroot and become one, unlocking their soul partner powers.

soul shade

The specific color of a cat's soul. Only 2 or 3 cats ever share the same soul shade, meaning they are soul partners. Example: while many cats may have a blue soul, both John and Mary have a cobalt soul, meaning they share a soul.

trial

a) a formal examination of evidence before a judge, and typically before a jury, in order to decide guilt. b) a test of the performance, qualities, or suitability of someone or something. The trials in Paradise Rising are a mix between both of these very suitable definitions. Each trial will be different, each more dangerous then the next.
